After the end of the Franco dictatorship, the [[Strikethrough]]Ebros [[/Strikethrough]] Ebro River delta was forgotten in a sense and became isolated.

Water flowed to Barcelona in the north and valencia in the South

because this region was inhabited by [[strikethrough]]many[[/strikethrough]] large populations of older [[strikethrough]]peop[[/strikethrough]] and conservative people, it developed a distinctly "Catalan" rather than "Spanish" identity
