2 - Explanation of how she came to work @ Eco-museum.

people doing traditional things (crafts, wool-spinning, agricultural, textile, etc) she'd never seen elsewhere china. But only to sustain themselves. She also helps expand the products to make them attractive to outside markets/textile designers.
Example: 100 diff types of grass; one in particular could be dyed in multiple colors.
They hope this Eco-village will inspire other villages in other areas of china.
Q: Why is the village endangered? What were outside pressures?
A: In '90s was roads/became better, young ppl left for the city to earn money advent of infrastructure [STRIKETHROUGH] technology has impacted village lifestyle. all culture preserved in songs, such as Dimen chorus
Q: were antiques/old buildings destroyed in Cultural Revolution?
A: Yes, but more importantly, peoples'[STRIKETHROUGH] feelings were [STRIKETHROUGH]destroyed.  Nowadays, Western values/consumerism are the popular value But now young ppl, born after '80s, are looking to return to their roots.  Time of spiritual rebirth in china.
Q: Where would young [STRIKETHROUGH]people such as those performing at the festival singers be likely to perform? @home
A: Not a separate art-form, part of life. Would be used for courtship & recording history. Dimen Dung singing listed as intangible cultural heritage on UNESCO list. Eco-Museum has trained over 100 singers. Some can perform for money in cities, some still sing while working.

A: Local/rural traditions, diff levels of preservation.  Once ppl move to cities, it's a means to make $, but also a way to interact w/ people. IN big cities, people have a trend toward ->embracing nostalgic, rural [STRIKETHROUGH] traditions. But more as w/a tourist attitude
