| October 18th 1869 #140 | Louisiana E W Mason Supt of Education Oct 19th Returned Approved EB 567 Vol 5 | New Orleans La Oct 13th 1869 Forwards application of Alfred Fairfax Pastor Baptist Church (Col'd) Waterproof La for aid in completing a school house there the land has been secured & building erected for school purposes perpetually. States that Mr Fairfax is recommended as a reliable man, that he will examine the tittle and ascertain the character of the trustees. Recommends an appropriation of $500. or enough under that sum to purchase the material. |

Returned Approved on condition that the lot & building shall be held for educational purposes forever. | New Orleans La Oct 11th 1869 Forwards application of L Johnson Pastor at Mandeville for aid in erecting a building for educational purposes. States that the people there are very poor. There are over one hundred children without the means of Education. Recommends an appropriation of Six hundred ($600) Dollars in material for this place. |

Mason Supt of Education Oct 20th Approved for $677 33/100 EB p 568. vol 5 | New Orleans La Oct 13th 1869 Makes statement relative to an appropriation for a school house at the Orphans Home at Franklin La. States that in April 1869 Capt W B Armstrong made application for aid to build a school house and an appropriation of $300 was made  Since that time a building has been erected at a cost of $1240 58/100 which was paid by Capt Armstrong. There is a large school kept in the building teacher supported by the Freedmens Aid Society. Recommends that the former appropriation of $300 be cancelled and one of $677.33/100 be made. The property is properly deeded for school purposes |

| October 18th 1869 #143 | Louisiana E W Mason Supt of Education Oct 19th 1869 Returned Approved for $200 | New Orleans La Oct 13th 1869 States that by the advice of Lt Col Berman he has obtained from Rev Saml Small late Pastor of M.E. Church at Alexandria La $300. as he had not secured the land for a church & school for Pineville La. The land has now been secured, paid for and is deeded to 7 trustees incorporated under the laws of La (Act Mch 14, 1855) Rev Emperor Williams is presiding elder of that district. he is a man of more than ordinary intelligence and believed to be an earnest Christian. Solicits an appropriation of $200 in material in addition to $300 already furnished. |

The land is deeded to the M.E. Church, and the building is pledged for school purposes forever. The state will furnish a teacher. Rev Geo Winfrey is Pastor. |
