Your communications of July 27th and August 1st are received.  I regret very much that this delay should have occurred.  I have been away for over a week and have but just returned consequently your letter informing me how to ship the stores did not reach me until to day.  Before leaving the city I had the rations prepared for shipment, and directed that my letter from Lawrenceville should be handed to the Quartermaster. but this was neglected and hence the delay.  I shall ship to you to day 1000 rations via Stone Mountain.  If they are insufficient. more will be sent upon your
