Sir.

Isham Holland (freedman) states that on the first of January 1866, he made an agreement with Sam Wynn, Blacksmith, living 18 miles from Washington on the Danbury road, in the county of Wilkes, to work for him at $1.00 pr day in specie or its equivalent, for the time he actually worked in the shop, giving him the privelege to work for other persons when he was not needed in the shop.  Also that his wife agreed to work for Wynn one year for $25.00.

That on the 14th of September, Wynn assaulted him with out provocation, and discharged him and his wife, refusing to pay them for the time they had worked.  Holland further states that he has never received a cent from Wynn for his services,
