refusing to vote the democratic ticket for a bribe of $30.00. The assaulted party being afraid to return to Baker County it was impossible to prosecute the assaults.

No. 100. October 8th in Quitman County, Virginia Smith was beaten severely with a club, without provocation by Jno Moore (wh.). No action by civil authorities. Jno Moore at large in Quitman County.

No. 101. October 10th, in Dougherty County, Wash. Guller, was shot through the neck, and died instantly, by Jeremiah Walters (wh.) who claims to have caught him in the act of killing a pig, belonging to him. Arrested by Civil authorities. Prisoner released next day after coroner's inquest, who brought in a verdict, that Gullet had been killed by Walters, in lawful defense of his property. Jerry Walters at large in Dougherty County.

No. 102. October 16th, Calhoun County, Henry Wade was stabbed and shot at twice, without provocation, by Allen Dosier (wh.) No arrest. Assailant at large in Cuthbert Randolph County.

No. 103. October 16th, in Stewart County. Henry James shot at, and wounded, without provocation, by Jno Turner (wh.). No action by civil authorities.
