Dear Mr. Freer:
I am just returned from the Continent, where I have spent very big money for a very small showing of rare prints. Prices are advancing in an unmerciful manner; - and Whistler's works more than any others.
I now send you, on approval, the following:
Whistler, The copperplate of the "Little Mast" 25 guineas.
Whistler, The Traghetto, £26.5.0 or 25 guineas.
Whistler, The Piazetta. £26.5.0 or 25 guineas.
These are high prices, but that's not my fault; and I was asked 28 guineas for a single proof from one of these plates this very day.
Tomorrow, it I could know the hour - most convenient to yourself - when I could see you at the Carlton, I could then show you four pastels by Whistler, - Said to be very fine.
I am, dear Mr Freer,
Very Sincerly yours
Frederick Keppel
