Dear Sir,
We are sending on (by Mr Cowan's instruction)
the Whistler & a Kakemono as you will see by enclosed Consul's note. The case has been lettered as per your note to Mr Cowan, & has been consigned today to the
Atlas Express, local agent for the American Express Co., to be forwarded to Liverpool for the "Teutonic" on the 21st.
"In bond to Detroit" has been painted on the lid, also "Picture by American Artist."

Mr. Cowan is paying for the Case, the Consul's fee, & Carriage to the Steamer.
We trust it will reach you safely.
