I have the honor to request permission to purchase a few articles of office furniture; chairs especially are much needed, the three or four on hand are almost useless, so much so that i have been compelled to borrow others.
Authority is also requested to have an office sign painted.

In reply to your communication of the 6th inst, referred to me for investigation by order of Maj Genl E.O.C Ord. I would respectfully make the following enquiries for information of Head Quarters.

What are the names of the persons who have stolen Government Cotton, residences, post office address, and their financial responsibility?

What is the amount of cotton that each individual has taken, and about what was the relative value per pound of the cotton at the date it was taken?

What were the facts, including the time, place, and circumstances, of the stealing of each separate lot of cotton?

What are the names of the parties, their residence and Post office address, who purchased the stolen cotton, and were they cognizant of the fact that the Cotton had been stolen at the time the purchase was made?

At what date and by what route, or means of transportation was the stolen Cotton shipped?

What means of proof can be furnished to [[strikethrough]] proove [[/strikethrough]] substantiate the fact of stealing the Cotton, the means of identity, the names and post office address of the parties who can testify to the facts, and their social and financial standing seperately, in their community?

Also state any other facts material to this office, in the investigation of this matter.

Please answer fully the above questions and the same will be considered as a private communication to this office.
