94 512 Bureau Refugees Freedmen and A.L. Office Agent Sub Dist Columbus Columbus Miss Oct 1, 1867 Sunderland Capt J.W. A.A.A. Genl Bu R.F. and A L. Vicksburg Miss Captain I have the honor to transmit herewith affidavits of Rachel Cottonseed (colored) and John I. Little Esq relative to the abduction of two colored children by one "Bud" Harris of Ala, and would request that the same be forwarded to the General Commanding the District of Alabama. In this matter I have made as full an investigation of the facts as circumstances would permit and am fully convinced that it is a gross outrage unwaranted by any authority whatever and although no application has been made to the civil authorities for relief yet I am confident that justice would not be meted out should such an application be made. I presume that Harris has had the children apprenticed to him since their abduction, which if I am to credit rumor means simply an "apology" for the former slave system. I would most urgently recommend that Harris and his accessory may be arrested and brought before the proper tribunal for punishment. I am Captain Very Respectfully Your Ob'dt Servt Wm K.
