Gentlemen

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your favor of the 10th

I am willing that you should settle the claims of the freedmen against A.G. Mixon, that is in this manner the market price for the crop, to be retained in your hands until the settlement is concluded. The object of Genl Order No 19, is to give the laborers the first lien, which you will observe in the settlement. Their part of the proceeds will be kept seperate, and debts that Mixon has against them individually will be paid from their part of the funds, that is proper charges, but questions of damages & unliquidated demands must be the subject of litigation at the instance of Mixon & not taken account of in your settlement.

The laborers should be required to fully complete their work upon the crop, if the employer gives them the full benefits of the legal provisions of the contract.

After the settlement you will please submit to me the statement in full

I am Gentlemen
Very Respectfully &c
