Major:
I have the honor to make the following report for this sub-District for the month of April 1868-

The business of this Office has not increased since last report.

But few cases have been referred to this Office during the month, where Freedmen have broken their Contracts, and no trouble is anticipated in the future in regard to this Complaint.

Several cases of destitution have been reported, two of which received medical attention from Dr. Price, Asst. Surg. at this Post.

Schools have all reported except one (Wesleyan Chapel) which has closed for the present.

The School known as Freedmen's Institute, the most flourishing one in the Sub-Dist, has permently closed and Teachers leave for their homes in the North.

About Fifty Freedmen left Columbus during the month for Liberia, Africa.
