#33 Ferry Avenue,
Detroit, Michigan,
April 12th, 1904.

My dear Mansfield:--

I have your letter of the 8th instant, and am pleased to know that the Whistler etchings reached the Grolier Club in safety, and that you have had an opportunity to examine them.

I also note with pleasure your comments and intention to return those which are not to be included in the first part of the exhibition.

As you are in Detroit on Sunday next, won't you spend at least that day with me? I would gladly invite you for the entire period of your stay in this city, but am very uncertain about my movements after next Sunday because of the serious illness of two of my near relatives. However, unless an unexpected change for the worse comes before Sunday next, I shall be here on that day, and if you can come to me as early in the day as convenient to you, it will give me pleasure to see you, and we can then discuss the proposed Caxton Club exhibition.

Yours very truly,
Charles L Freer
