Mr. G.T. Ruby is hereby appointed an Agent of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, in this State, at a Salary of One hundred dollars (#100.) per month.

This appointment is made subject to the approval of Maj. Gen. O.O. Howard Commissioner, and in accordance with the provisions of an Act to continue in force the Bureau passed July 16, 1866, and will take effect from June 1 1867 and remain in force until revoked by orders from these Head quarters.

Your communication of the 5th inst. concerning the indebtedness of Bartlett Zacharie of Fayette Co. is received.

You will cause Mr. Zacharie to pay to the freedmen to whom he is indebted, every cent they are due, as well as any expenses that may be incurred in the collection of the same. To secure this amount, you are authorized to seize and sell any property he may possess, and should you meet with resistance by him, you will arrest and fine him for contempt
