The asst Commissioner directs that you will Summon before you Geo M. Morton (who is supposed to be at Indianola) and take his deposition concerning the Woolen Factory at Waco, which is thought to have been the property of the Conferate States Government

It is necessary that the depositions should be as full and explicit as possible.

Your communication of the 31st ult concerning a band of horse thieves and murderers which infest your Sub Dist is received,

It is of the greatest importance that any such band should be broken up, and you will make every effort to that end, Should it be necessary, horses could be pressed for that use, but doubtless the inhabitants would willingly lend a sufficient number of horses were there any possibility of capturing the band and bringing them to Justice, such bands of desperadoes are much worse than ten times their number of unorganized murderers and thieves, for they not only commit crime, but intimidate officers of the law, you will give the authorities every assistance at your disposal in pursuing and capturing these outlaws,
