Commissioner &c Washington D.C. 140/142 filed General, I have the honor to state that I have not been able as yet to sell the "Tannery" and "Saw Mill" at San Antonio. The higher of the bids received were so loosely drawn, that I was unable to hold the bidders to their offers. Although the title is good, the threat by the City of San Antonio of a suit alarmed the parties to buy. I shall advertise again and can get $25,000 from the City to a certainty - perhaps $30,000. - Do I have your permission to sell at these figures if no better can be obtained? Please instruct me at the earliest date practicable I am General Very Respectfully Your Obt Servt (Sgd) Chas Griffin. Bvt Maj Genl USA Asst. Com: State of Texas 142 Hd. Qrs.
