Will you please send me as early as possible the names of thoroughly competent men of position and decided Character for the following positions,
District Judges.
District Attorneys
Chief Justices of County
County Judges or Commissioners
Justices of the Peace
Sheriffs
Constables
1. They must be able to take the test Oath.

2. Their present Status must be undoubted and thorough going union.

3. Should there be good cause for not removing present Officials, state it. Give us for as you able the names of present officials.

Do not confine your remarks in report to any particular County or judicial District, but give all the information on which you can thoroughly rely about any and every County and District.

Let your statements be as full and ample as possible

Sir,
The asst Com. directs that you forward to these Hd qrs. as soon as possible the names of the Civil officers of Robertson and Milan [[Milam]] Co's. and that you also send a List of names of good, strong Union men suitable to fill the offices. It is necessary that they should be men who take the "Iron Clad Oath."

It is desirable that the list for Milan [[Milam]] Co. be furnished first, if it cannot be furnished for one county, send them both.
