Complaint having been made to these Hd qrs that the daughter of Lewis Travis (f.m.) of Fannin Co. and the daughter of a neighbour were carried a short distance from the house by four men, and were violated by them all in turn. You will arrest the criminals, investigate this case & if the evidence be sufficient you will turn them over to the Civil authorities, if the latter do not deal with them according to law & evidence, you will rearrest & punish them in proportion to the enormity of their offence, reporting your action to these Hd quarters
