I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of Cir, Let, dated W.D. B.R.F.&A.L. Washington Nov 28 1867. and in the temporary absence of the Asst. Commsr to report the following named Vol. officers now on duty in the Bureau in this State-

Capt Edwd Miller V.R.C.
Capt N H Randlett V.R.C.
Bt Cap Chas T Rand 1st Lt V.R.C.
2nd Lt. A A. Metzner V.R.C.

The above named officers have been on duty in the Bureau for the past 18 or 20 months and have proved themselves able and efficient officers It is not, however, absolutely necessary that they be retained in the Bureau as officers of the Army. Should they be mustered out of Service, I would respectfully request that they be appointed Agents of this Bureau, to date from their "muster out," and at a salary as high as is paid by the Bureau for Agents-

I am directed by the Asst Comr to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated Nov 23. 1867. and the papers in the case of Denis Harrison vs. Mrs Nancy Youngblood.

Col. Sinclair, the Inspector of the Bureau, has been ordered to Sumpter to investigate the official acts of H. S. Johnson, S.a.C. and you will have an opportunity to present this case to him for his investigation,

Agents of the Bureau will not be sustained when it has been shown to the asst. Comsr that they have acted unjustly.

I have the honor to request that the appointment of Chas. E. Culver as an Agent of the Bureau, made June 21st 1867, to take effect June 1st 1867, may be [[strikethrough]] revoked [[/strikethrough]] cancelled to date Nov 15 1867; he having been murdered on that day.

Also that the appointment of R. S. Freeland as a clerk of the Bureau, made Nov 25. 1867. to take effect Nov 1st 1867, may be revoked; he having declined the appointment.
