I am directed by the Asst. Commissioner to forward you herewith a report made by you while stationed at Matagorda and to invite your attention to that portion of your letter enclosed in brackets and underscored with lead pencil and to say that you will forward to these Headquarters with the least practicable delay a report giving information (with names, dates, color and sex) of homicides or other outrages perpetrated during the time or before you were stationed there. Go back in report as far as June 1865.

It is desirable that you be as concise and definite as possible in your report but if you cannot specify in each case, come as near as possible. If you know of a Homicide being committed state that fact even though you may not be able to give any further data. You will it is presumed have to make the report from memory though it is hoped you may have some private memoranda which will assist you in making it up.

In addition to this report you will forward to this Headquarters a report (embodying the same information called for above) of your present Sub Dist. and the adjacent counties

Statistics are being made up of outages committed in this state since the close of the war, and you will perceive the necessity of making your reports as full and complete as possible

Sir,
I am directed by the Asst Commissioner to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 30th ult. and to say that the accounts for your services rendered the Bureau in obtaining evidence to the title of the Government to the Waco. Factory have been mislaid if ever received at these Head quarters.- The Asst Commissioner desires that you forward another copy of the same in order that he may take the proper in the case.

The Factory is to be sold at Waco about the middle of March. at public auction
