I will briefly state that I have succeeded in renting a good home for $35.00 (specie) per month. Have furnished it, and the teachers are house keeping. Before renting I paid $40.50 specie hotel bill. I am out of money. Can the teachers here receive a months pay? Miss Clay leaves. Miss Garrison has arranged to stay. The teachers I brot are all needed here.

We should have to day two stoves and windows for two houses.

Capt Pease wants an order from you to make necessary repairs. Will not act without it. I will open the schools on Monday and then come to Galveston unless otherwise ordered. I wish to confer with you. We shall do a good work here.

Very Respectfully
D.T. Allen
