before seated. I simply desire to place the matter before you upon the testimony as it came up before Capt Divine. You will observe that Pitman's contract with me was made before your general order No. 5. This contract is of date 16 Janry and in order Feby. 2/67. and I believe we have no law by which one free man can recover the possession of another free man. I simply desire to be heard upon all the facts of the case and desire nothing more from the freedman nor from Dr Kithill than I think I am justly entitled to and what I would be willing to accord to another under
the same circumstances.

The Freedman Pickman was in the posession of Dr. Kithill at the time that Capt Divine gave me the order to Kithill for Pickman- but was not in his posession when I made the contractwith him- nor had he then contracted with Kithill. If not improper, I would be
pleased to have a copy of Dr Kithills letter
upon the subject or the oppine . As it pertains to subtle matters in dispute in your department, I presume you who have no objection to furnishing me a copy

Very respectfully
C.A. Abercrombie

Transcription Notes:
What I am seeing as "poportion" may be possession? I've changed them to possession.... Possession seems correct!
