I have the honor to call attention to the fact that the District Court of Jefferson Co. will hold its next session at Beaumont on Monday May the 6th proximo, and that there are upon the docket for trial two serious charges against freedmen. One of the charges is perjury against three freedmen charged with false swearing before a justice of the peace of this County when testifying as witnesses in a principle case of assault & battery. The other case is one in which a facedboy abt 14 years of age is charged with having committed a criminal offence upon a mare about 12 months since  in this case it appears that the boy in addition in his being so young, is exceedingly dull of apprehension, being a full blooded Affrican, & it is the opinion of those who have known him from infancy, that he has no idea that he has committed any offence at all.
