Some ten days since Maj Mayer S.A. Comr at Liberty wrote to me to cause the arrest of three men who have committed an offence against a freedmen in his district, who afterwards made their escape to "Johnson Bayou La;" Major Mayer Telegraphed to Col O Connell at Houston to send a guard to me, which he did, as the men were not in my district & as I am totally unacquainted with the locality into which these men have made their escape, I concieve it adviseable to send with the guard some person having some knowledge of the locality of "Johnsons Bayou La." I accordingly Issued an order directing the Sherriff of this County to accompany the guard to Johnson Bayou La for the purpose of making the arrest; the Sherriff followed my instructions, traveled all night & reached the residence of one of the accused parties about day break

Transcription Notes:
First two words, are they "some ten days" ? I cannot decide what it says, but it doesn't seem to say "some ten days"
