Colonel:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication dated June 23, 1866, directing me to investigate the burning of the school house at this place and report the facts to the Asst. Commissioner. 

I have investigated the affair as fully as possible but cannot ascertain the parties, neither can I assert that it was burned by any of the citizens here, but I believe such to have been the case
