Personally appeared before me the undersigned authority, one Alexander Watson (freedman) and makes affidavit against one J.L. Dial as follows

That he the said J. L. Dial did on or about the 11th day of April 1866 approach the place where your deponant was with a gun in his hand, & threatened to shoot if he could see them, Randal Brooks & Peter Cunningham, that your deponant was on the premesis of said Dial with a wagon for the purpose of removing the [[family?]] of his [[mother?]] & did then hear the said J.L. Dial make the threat to shoot the above named persons. All of which is against the peace & dignity of the United States, Wherefor your deponant prays that the said Dial may be arrested & delt with according to law
