Frank M. Smith Chief Clerk Bureau of R.F. and A.L. and George Wilson (Freedman) having been duly sworn depose and say that they were present at the Office of the Sub. Asst. Com. Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands at Marshall Texas, June 7th 1866 when he said Sub. Asst. Com. imposed a fine of $100, (one hundred dollars) upon John. M. Henderson and that the Sub. Asst. Com. did not mention the word specie in imposing the fine but simply said Mr. Henderson  I feel it my duty to fine you one hundred dollars for writing this letter.
