Office of Freedmen's Bureau
Anderson Grimes Co. Texas
Aug. 30th 1866

Gen. J.B. Kiddoo
Galveston Texas

Dear Sir,
Since my last month's report nothing worthy of note has transpired. A full harvest is now placed beyond a doubt; not only in this county, but I will add, by personal knowledge, on both of the thorough fare routes through the eastern portion of the state; viz. to Sabine Town and to Marshall.

Erroneous constructions seems to be placed by many, on the Presidents Proclamation relative to the authority of the Freedman's Bureau in Texas.

I would most respectfully beg leave to ask, if military aid can be had to carry out the orders, should resistance take place? But I hope from the good order here to fore existing, it will not.

Yours, very Respectfully
J.F. Brown
Sub. Asst. Com.
