Ann Milstead on oath being duly sworn deposes and says, 
I first lived with Mr Abram Milstead in the state of Florida, being a slave of his. His first wife Sally was then living. She was a white woman. About twenty four or twenty five years ago she died. It was nearly a year after that, that Mr Milstead, Abram, took me for a wife. I have been living with him as such ever since up to the time of his death. I lived with him in Florida, ten or twelve years having by him seven children. We then moved to the State of Texas, from Florida, on to the Colorado river. We lived here about six months. I did not have any children while living on the Colorado. We then moved to near Mobile Alabama living there about six years. I bore him three children more while living at Mobile. At this time while still living near Mobile he concluded to send myself and children to Mexico in order to have us all set free. Abram Milstead sent two of his sons, by his first wife, Green and Marion Milstead to take myself and children to Mexico for this purpose. Green took us to Matamoros where papers were made out and we were informed that we were free. After this Green took us back into Texas. up on the Neueces River, to a place called Live Oak. Abram Milstead afterwards finding out that we had not been left in Mexico as he had intended we should be, came himself to us at
