will not otherwise be protected. Now the truth is, the laborers are indebted to the firm in the aggregate, more than five thousand dollars for necessaries furnished them, which under the contract was to be paid out of their portion of the cotton - This whole amount, under the Deed of Trust & by an agreement with the admr of Lt H. Love, I am authorised to use in the payment of the debt due you. What is to be done in this matter? I have not seen any order authorising such an interference. The laborers were satisfied with the arrangement with the arrangement to ship all the cotton & after it was all sold, to account to them for the ballance after paying what was due the firm. I shall spare no trouble to get the control of this cotton for the purpose it was intended & will write you further.

In haste, yours &c
