Sir,

I have the honor to report, an affair of two outrageous murders recently committed in Live Oaks County (which is not in my District)

The report of the matter that I received is from John James Dix, (a son of mine, who by the by was a reb) as follows, "Weavers, Negro, was killed a few days ago by Larking Furguson, Step-son of Rang Williams, who lives two miles below Oakville, on the West side of the River, - A Mexican was killed a few miles above Oakville several days before, by one Criswell, - A Company or a part of a Company should be sent to Oakville"

Thus you perceive that the rebels are calling for Military protection. The above mentioned Weaver, were a great thief and desperado, and was recently killed, by the Sheriffs party in attempting to arrest him, -  it is said, that he was murdered by the Sheriffs posse, - it is well known that the sheriff made up his party of men that had had a difficulty with Weaver, and wanted an opportunity to kill him, - Sheriff and party campped the night before a short distance from Weavers house, the party went
