The papers in the Millican case have been received, but I have not been able to take any action in the matter for want of some mode of conveyance, There are several places in the county where my presence is needed now but I am unable to stir for want of a saddle horse and the proprietor of the livery stable will not credit as there is a large bill now due for horse hire. Mr Stokes will explain everything more clearly than I can write, and if there is any way by which a horse can be procured I wish you would assist me in getting one.

I am confident of being able to establish a few more schools in this county, but the greatest drawback, I fear, will be the difficulty to get good teachers. The School at Brazoria is progressing finely under the guidance of Mr Cuthbert but the one kept here is of no use whatever. Mr Ames, the teacher, is not fit for his position, being perfectly devoid of ambition and energy.

I am very truly yours,
P F. Duggan
