General,

I am directed by the Maj. Genl. Commissioner, to forward by todays mail, printed instructions respecting bounties, etc, to colored soldiers and their heirs, and directions for preparing papers in their claims. Through an inadvertence these instructions were not dated. They should date Sept. 17th 1866.

Attention is respectfully invited to notes giving information respecting bounties provided by the Act of Congress approved July 28th 1866. Claims for additional bounty under the Act cited are now received by the Departments. Printed forms and rules and regulations will be supplied as soon as received from the printer.

I am General
Very Respectfully
