Sir,
I have made two ineffectual attempts to arrest Burton Hamby N.Co. The parties for whose arrest Govr Throckmorton offered nine hundred dollars ($900)
Hamby & Burris (I have learned) left the County some weeks ago immediately upon learning that Federal Troops were passing through the county. Burton has left since I have been hunting for him.
The detail of soldiers sent me from Tyler were not mounted hence of no service in directing men who are on the lookout and well prepared to escape.
I got a detail from the 6th U.S.C.
