Dear Sir
I'm looking over the Houston Telegraph of Aug 31st 1866. I chanced to se your report to Gen Howard dated Aug 4th/66, and understand from it that you would like to employ, in limited State offices as agreed in the lucedir. I have the honor to have held a commission in the U.S. Service during the late rebellion in the 21st  Texas Soyob Cavalry and was mustered out of the Service last Nov. at Brownsville. As to my loyalty it cannot be doubted. The oath I can take, as to capacity you must be the judge. If you should want any refferences, you can have them by acquainting me of the fact. I would feel honored and pleased, to secure an appointment
