He has no right whatsoever to take them away from their mother, who is too poor to go to him. And I know that Gibbs is a mean man. And I believe he ought to pay the Freedwoman at least ten dollars a month since [[strikethrough]] July 10th [[/strikethrough]] June 10 1865 to the 1st May 1867. And be made to deliver the child Lucy to my office. I respectfully ask your attention to the affidavits and an order rendering her justice.

In regard to the Estes Case we have no Statute applicable, the deed was made to frustrate the authorities and prevent justice. I have attached all of Estes' property, and ask that you will attend to it and secure the 2 B/c at Galveston in charge of McMahon & Co for the use of the woman & child.

Arthur H. Edy & Co. ought to have in his chge proceeds of 2 B/c Mkd "HB" Weighing ea 412. & 424 pounds. Sold for 98$ & odd cents gold. This I attempted to attach, but failed. It belongs to W H H Braizier and was raised by the Freedman Harry Wyth in 1866.

I understand Mr Braizier has gone to Galveston to prefer charges against me. If so please arrest him on a charge of assaulting the Freedman Harry Wyth, with intent to murder him, and for robbing him of his crop, Horse, 3 collars and one axe.

I am Sir very resptfully &c
