Alleyton, May 24th 1867

Sir:

I have the honor to address these lines to you with the request to inform the General comdg. the District about the contents of this, for his kind consideration.

In short I will state the services rendered by me in the Army of the United States during the war and after; In September 1862 I was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the 29th Regt N.Y.H.Vol.Inftr. soon afterwards promoted 1st Lieut Adjutant, participated with the regiment in the campaigns of Virginia until June 1st 1863 when the regiment was ordered to proceed to New York City to be mustered out of service, July 15th 1863 I was appointed 1st Lieut Adjutant of the 27th Regt.Penna Vol. Inftr., participated in the battles of Wauhatchie, Chattanooga, Missionary Ridge, where I was wounded; Rocky faced Ridge and Resacca, afterwards I was brevetted Captain by the Governor of Pennsylvania for gallant and meritorious service and proceeded with the
