In coming through Davis Co. I endeavored to assertain all I could that would be of use to the Freedmens Bureau. There has been many murders committed in this county, of colored, and also of white people, by bad and reckless men. There is a great deal of fear, and restlessness, especially among the freedpeople, and they are not safe to walk on the public road without suffering personal violence, and in danger of their life.

on Saturday June 29/67, one (1) or more men went to the house of a colored man, Six (6)(or seven) miles east of Douglassville, and by very good testimony, it appears, that after
