Ecleto, Karnes Co
Nov 12th, 1866,

Lt Col Ellis.
A.A. Genl
B.R.F. & A.L.

Col, The many calls on me by Freedmen to know what became of certain moneys collected by the Bureau at Seguin, forced me to make inquiries concerning the same, And I find that Lt J.B. Moore, late Sub Asst Comssr at Seguin, collected and appropriated to his own use the following sums, And I prefer them as charges against him, To wit.

Twenty five Dols in specie collected of Martin West & Wife, for & on account of Fanny Coorpender, Alias Fanny Gatewood.

Twenty Six Dols in specie collected of Phillip Goodbread, for and on account of Charles Brown

Both amounts were given in judgement by me as Sub Asst Comssr, & cheerfully paid by the parties as soon as they could raise the money, but after my term of Office. There are other smaller amounts to be accounted for that I cannot now specify, but which I can hereafter if called upon -
