Sir;
I arrived here as ordered on the 26th inst. I have found no trouble as yet. I proceeded via Woodville and gave Mr. Johnson all needed instructions; I turned over to Mr. Goddin all books etc. pertaining to the Office. He would not accept the Office for some time and kept me waiting longer than I expected as I had no person to deliver the books too. everything appears to be quiet and working well but I have not been here long enough to find out the sentiment of the people but those I have heard speak are decidedly disloyal; there is a newspaper here that is perfectly contemtible in its editorials  I will forward a specimen in next.
