Sir,
I have the honor to report the following case as stated to me by Jerry Dixon, a Freedman, living at present at Mr. Benjamin Wilson's farm in Shelby Co. Texas.

Said Jerry Dixon was swindled out, or robbed of, a sorrel horse, by the following named parties: viz:

1. A Mexican, Hosea Priscella, of Sabine Parish, La., who owns a farm there, about 4 miles from the town of Hamilton, La. The horse has been taken to his farm.

[[left margin]] hunt him down [[/left margin]] 2. John Pye, a notorious outlaw, of Sabine Co, who murdered an old man, for the purpose of ravishing the daughter afterwards, and who is living now, without being disturbed in Sabine Co.

3. Joel Yates, of San Augustine Co., who could be arrested, if I had a few mounted men.

The Civil Authorities don't show any, or very little, disposition to interfere, and I shall
