I should think that if the freedmen violate the conditions of their contract, the planters could have recourse to the laws of the State for a remedy without using violence.

I would also request that the Agent at Brenham be instructed or that a special agent be sent there to investigate the complaints of the freedmen with regard to their non-payment of last year's work.
