Sir:
The bearers of this are the Misses Smith, teachers of f.m. School at this place, they have closed their school at the 1" inst. as they cannot succeed, continuing it on a self sustaining basis, the freedpeople think, it is a fraud committed upon the, to make them pay $1.50/100, when they only paid 50 ct. lately.

The ladies have no money to carry them home - New Orleans - they have been waiting for transportation, since the 1st inst. but are afraid now, they will not get it. They have not received any salary for May & June and owe their board here for 2 months.

Please assist them to get home and if possible, pay them one months salary, the other months pay, they have agreed to send to me, to pay part of their
