I have made a careful estimate of the notes and accounts due me and exclusions of interest others back a small fraction of twenty thousand dollars. These claims have interest due from 1861 and 1862. Of this amount about $8,000 has no interest due. If deemed necessary I could furnish a list of said claims. My wife has claims due her before marriage about $2,000 and a considerable portion of the money of my wife went into the purchase of the notes and accounts. I have on hand only money enough to pay my necessary expenses for a very short time. I am now engaged in no regular business having recently sold my farm in Wharton County. The money I received went to the payment of my debts and the balance due on same is included in the statement of the notes now due me. I would also state that it is impossible for me to collect any money at present on said claims or that I will eventually even collect  more than half of the claims due me. I also owe attorneys fees for collecting the above amounts. 

I have also made a careful estimate of my indebtedness and the list can be furnished if necessary. My debts exclusive of interest amount to something over
