Yours of the 22nd July duly to hand, the guard duly arrived from Houston, I sent them with the Sheriff of this county to Sabine Pass on Saturday July 27th with instructions to proceed from there to "Johnsons Bayou La." in the best manner they could and to use their best endeavors to arrest the two "Donoho's" and the man "Juan".  I placed the management of the expedition in the hands of the Sheriff he being a good man and a very energetic officer, the expedition arrived at Sabine early Sunday morning and being unable to procure horses to proceed to "Johnson's Bayou," they after some difficulty procured a boat, in which they set out Sunday afternoon and arrived at the residence of one
