La Grange Aug 20th 1867
Maj Genl Griffin

Dear Sir
Inclosed we send you our application to have Samul Priestly turned over to the civil courts to be tried for a charge of committing a Rape &c.

If our request is granted you will please make such order as may be necessary and inform Lt Howe of the disposition to be made of our client, and if refused you will be kind enough to return our application to us at La Grange.

Practicing law before the military is a new practice to attorneys and if we have violated any rule in making this application or if it be made informally we hope it will not be disregarded on that account, but receive such notice at your hands as you may deem necessary.

Hoping to secure a favorable reply we remain yours Obdt Servts
