I have been through this county and am sure that they will vote like one man, for Mr. Philips, a worthy and unconditional Union man. 

I shall go tomorrow to Sabine County, (which Co. has to vote with San Augustine) in order to secure this vote of the colored for Mr. Philips. All the most influential colored men of Sabine Co. have already received instructions to that effect and I am confident, that he will be elected.

Shelby Co forms another district, and all the colored preachers are working there, to secure the votes to another good man of that County.

General Griffin's order, appropriating $1000.~ for School houses in my district, has had a very happy effect, and has confirmed the confidence of the colored people in the Bureau. It has been spread round like wildfire.

I am confident that everything in this district will turn out right.

Our friend Meier is talking as freely as ever and is heartly hated by the people. He is as jolly as ever, but don't want to return to Shelby, since they were going to hang him there.
