The State of Texas,
Lt Maj. A F Manning, Sub Asst
Agent F. R. & A. L.
Whereas complainent has been made to to me under oath that you illegally restrain John G. Bell of his liberty; these are therefore to command you that you appear before me on 21st day of Jany 1867, (Inst) at 3 o'clk pm and bring with you the body of John G Bell, at the Court house, in the City of Waco, in the County of McLennan, and then and there show by your written return on this writ whether or not you have in your custody, or under restraint the said John G Bell, and by what authority you so detain him.  Herein fail not, but due return make under the penalty of the law.
