Respectfully returned to Thomas Harrison Judge of the 11th Judicial Dist. with the information that the within names parties were arrested by the authority invested in me as an officer of the United States Army, on duty as Sub Asst. Comr Bureau RF & AL, and I will not obey this summons without orders from my superior Officer, Maj Genl Kiddoo.

In chambers at Waco, Jany 21st 1867. Before the Hon Thos Harrison, Judge of the 11th Judl Dist. Ex-Parte John S Bell. The application of the complainant for writ of Habeas Corpus, and the writ and return of the Respondent being Considered, the Court here sitting declines to proceed further in this matter, and adjourns sine die, because the Court has not power to enforce obedience to its orders, on the part of the Respondent.
