Whereas, complaint has been made to me under oath that you illegally restrain John S. Bell of his liberty these are therefore to command you, that you appear before me on the 21st day of January 1867 (Inst) at 3 Oclk P.M. and bring with you the body of said John S. Bell at the Court House in the city of Waco in the County of McLennan and then and there show by your written return on this writ whether or not you have in your custody or under restraint the said John S. Bell and by what authority you so detain him, Herein fail not but [[due?]]
